When an automatic makes sense
Bogotá has heavy traffic and hilly streets. An automatic spares you the clutch in traffic jams and is the easiest option if you have not driven a manual in a while, if it is your first time in the city or if you come from a country where almost every car is an automatic. What you need to rent
- Be at least 25 years old. No minimum time holding a license.
- Your passport (or Colombian ID card) and your driver's license must be from the same country: a US passport with a US license, or a Colombian ID card or passport with a Colombian license.
- A valid driver's license. A foreign one is valid for up to 6 months (Law 769 of 2002, art. 25).
- Full-coverage insurance: added to the rate, worth 10% of it. It includes 24/7 roadside assistance.
- A deposit that depends on the vehicle, paid when you pick up the car by bank transfer, digital wallet or credit card and returned 12 to 15 business days later. The booking is made with 30% of the rental price.

- Is it better to rent a manual or an automatic in Bogotá?
- It depends on you: an automatic is more comfortable in Bogotá traffic and on its hills; a manual is cheaper. If in doubt, choose an automatic for the city and check the rate difference in the table.

- Yes. We hand the car over at El Dorado International Airport, International Terminal (Muelle Internacional), level 2, exit 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Outside those hours we still deliver; we arrange it on WhatsApp around your flight.
- Do prices go up in high season?
- No. The rate is the same all year: no December, Easter or long-weekend surcharge.
- What documents do I need to rent a car in Bogotá?
- Your passport (or your Colombian ID card, if you are Colombian) and a valid driver's license, and both must be from the same country: a US passport with a US driver's license, or a Colombian ID card or passport with a Colombian license. You must also be 25 or older; no minimum time holding a license is required. In Colombia a foreign license is valid for tourists for up to 6 months (Law 769 of 2002, art. 25) and no International Driving Permit is required.
